Who We Are
-
You do not have to specialize in one subject to apply, we welcome tutors across all academic areas. That said, math is our highest area of demand right now, so if that is your strength, we especially want to hear from you.
More than your subject knowledge, we are looking for someone who:
Is patient, warm, and genuinely enjoys working with student.
Can explain concepts in multiple ways without making a student feel bad for not understanding
Shows up consistently and communicates clearly
Understands that the relationship with the student matters just as much as the lesson
If that sounds like you, keep reading.

Tutoring with LK is flexible by design. You set your availability, work with your assigned student on a consistent weekly schedule, and have the support of an established program behind you. Most tutors begin with one student after onboarding and grow from there as the program expands.
Sessions can be held in person throughout the Rochester area or fully virtually, whatever works best for you and your student.

We keep our process intentional and straightforward.
Step 1 — Initial Interview
A casual conversation over Google Meet to get to know you, talk through your background, and see if LK Tutoring feels like a good fit on both sides.Step 2 — Practice Sessions
If the first interview goes well, you will complete two practice sessions with a current long-term student, with Lenny present. This is not a test, it is a chance to see how you connect with a real student in a real session. It is also the best way for both of us to know if this is the right fit.Step 3 — Decision & Onboarding
After the practice sessions, we will share honest feedback and make a decision together. If it is a yes, onboarding takes approximately two to three weeks and sets you up with everything you need to feel confident walking into your first solo session. -
Pay is competitive and we believe in rewarding loyalty. Tutors receive a pay increase each year they remain with LK Tutoring, up through their third year with the program. The longer you stay and grow with us, the more that is reflected in what you earn.
Specific pay details will be discussed during the initial interview.

This is not a corporate tutoring chain. There are no rigid scripts, no rotating student assignments, and no pressure to fit every student into the same mold. You will work with the same student consistently, build a real relationship, and be part of a program that takes both its students and its tutors seriously.
We are growing, and we want the people who grow with us to feel that every step of the way.
If this feels like the right fit, we would love to hear from you. Reach out with a little about yourself, your academic background, and why you are interested in tutoring with LK.
